The workshop addressed the emergence of pre-Islamic poetry and the stages of its development, and reviewed the views of early Arab critics on determining its beginnings, in addition to discussing the most prominent hypotheses and modern studies that have dealt with the question of the origins of pre-Islamic poetry and the authenticity of its metres, while shedding light on the methodological problems associated with this subject.
The workshop included scholarly contributions and academic discussions that emphasised the importance of re-reading heritage issues with a contemporary critical vision that deepens the scientific understanding of Arabic literary texts and enhances students' research abilities.
