Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education – Al-Dawaia, Asst. Prof. Dr. Safaa Hussein Ali, the University Psychological Counselling Unit at the College organised a guidance seminar in cooperation with the Moon Gathering Cultural Centre – North Dhi Qar Branch (affiliated with the Holy Abbasid Shrine) on Thursday, 20/11/2025, delivered by His Eminence Sheikh Farhan Al-Saadi.
The seminar addressed the most prominent contemporary challenges facing university youth as a result of the scourge of drugs, the modern methods adopted by trafficking networks to target students, as well as the health, psychological and social effects that may adversely affect their academic achievement and daily behaviour. During the lecture, His Eminence stressed the importance of self-awareness, adherence to moral values, and the role of the family and the university in protecting young people from this dangerous phenomenon.
The seminar saw active participation through the distribution of a set of questions to the attendees to promote interaction and engagement, and a cultural book fair was also held within the College to support students' cultural and intellectual awareness. At the conclusion of the event, the Dean honoured His Eminence Sheikh Farhan Al-Saadi and a number of distinguished guests, while the Moon Gathering Cultural Centre – North Dhi Qar Branch (affiliated with the Holy Abbasid Shrine) presented tokens of appreciation to Asst. Prof. Dr. Safaa Hussein Ali, Dean of the College, Lecturer Rahman Issa Safi, Associate Dean, Assistant Lecturer Ali Kareem Fadhala and Assistant Lecturer Saud Shnayar Khafi, in expression of its thanks and appreciation for their continuous efforts in supporting awareness events and cultural and academic activities within the College.
